NDSU spring commencement is scheduled for Saturday, May 11 at the Fargodome. Ceremonies are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
NDSU is set to holdcommencement ceremonies Saturday, May 11 at the Fargodome. Two ceremonies are scheduled.
The 10 a.m. ceremony will be for graduates of the College of Arts and Sciences and College of Health and Human Sciences. The 2 p.m. ceremony is for graduates in the College of Agriculture, Food Systems and Natural Resources; College of Business; College of Engineering; Interdisciplinary Studies.
Former NDSU professor and current North Dakota Poet Laureate Denise K. Lajimodiere will receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters at the 10 a.m. ceremony.
According to Jackie Schluchter, associate registrar, 1,427 candidates are expected to participate in the ceremonies, as of May 2. A total of 1,988 students are eligible.
“Commencement is an exciting day where we have the opportunity to celebrate our graduates,”Schluchter said. “This day marks the beginning of an amazing journey as our students now become members of our alum community.”
A class representative has been selected to speak during each ceremony.
Kayla Jones, who is receiving her Master of Education with an emphasis on Higher Education, will address the 10 a.m. ceremony. A resident of St. Louis, Missouri, Jones is the daughter of Aaron and Natlyn Jones.
Briana Nguyen is receiving her Bachelor of Science in microbiological sciences will speak during the 2 p.m. ceremony. She is from Fargo and is the daughter of Brian and Tiffany Nguyen.
Morgan Niemiller, an interior design major, was selected as the alternate speaker for the 10 a.m. ceremony and Katrina Dietz, a civil engineering and Spanish double major, was selected as the alternate speaker for the 2 p.m. ceremony.
Ashley Johnson, who is earning a bachelor’s degree in vocal music education, is soloist for the 10 a.m.
Soloist for the 2 p.m. ceremony is Lauren Kueper. She is receiving a master’s degree in voice performance.
