Kitty Kasas: Shark Tank Update After the Show - Season 10 (2024 Update) (2024)

Nikki Linn spent her childhood loving animals. She learned this from her mother, Arni, who had dedicated her life to being an advocate for animals. Inspired by her mother’s work, Nikki had always aspired to work with animals, but since ‘life is a box of chocolates’ after graduating from Princeton, she co-founded a radio station.

Even though this new occupation had its own benefits, Nikki never really forgot about her first love – animals. Fast forward to a couple of years later and Nikki had transformed the basement of her radio station into a makeshift shelter for animals.

When she sold her radio station in 1999, Nikki used her share of the earnings to launch an Animal Rescue Need and Intervention (ARNI) Foundation. This non-profit organization was a strictly no-kill shelter for dogs and cats with extra services that included low-cost tick and flea medications, shots, sprays and neutering.

Soon enough, the business was flourishing and Nikki’s shelter hosted over 200 animals on average on a daily basis. Up until 2007, everything was running smoothly until the big recession. This is when Nikki and her husband were struggling with finances and had to look for an alternative source of income. Also, a huge ringworm outbreak in their shelter had caused them to stop using carpeted trees for their felines to hide, pounce, climb and claw around.

Around this time, the husband and wife came up with a solution for both of their problems – the Kitty Kasas. This product was a cuboid-shaped home for cats that could be constructed using toy blocks stacked on top of each other and in many vibrant colors.

Before they knew it, pet parents from all over were thrilled by their invention and their new business was wildly successful. Soon enough, the sales from Kitty Kasas were funding ARNI and the couple was able to fund other non-profit rescue and shelter foundations.

Using their profits from Kitty Kasas, they invest in their ‘Shelter Redo Program’ which randomly picks a shelter every month and pays for the renovation of their facilities with durable, safe and fun kitty homes.

However, we put Kitty Kasas to the test with specially-tailored tests for cat houses, and here’s what we found.

Our Review of Kitty Kasas

Kitty Kasasis not just your average kitty home because the company offers its customers a lifetime guarantee since they are convinced that their invention is virtually indestructible. The Kitty Kasas cuboid we reviewed, measured up to 15 x 15 x 12 inches and it snapped together very easily to create a hideaway for your feline.

The entrance to each Kitty Kasas cube had a cutout entrance that was shaped like the silhouette of a cat’s face, minus the whiskers, of course. Inside this kitty recreation cube, you could find a machine washable pillow and hanging toys, both – indoors and outdoors.

We then added the Kitty Kasas Penthouse Bed as a perch that easily fits on top of the cube. This additional cube fits the exact description of the previous cube, however, it is meant to provide your cat with a bird’s eye view of their penthouse. This is somewhat relaxing for cats since they are miles away from harm and the potential danger of hugs and kisses.

Another great addition to your cat’s home inside your home is the Kitty Kasas Wall Mount. This lets your cat traverse higher than their bird’s eye view so they can sit in the open air. If this doesn’t seem like enough for your feline then you’ll be glad to know that each Kitty Kasas kit comes with wooden screws that can help mount the cube using additional kitty clips.

Since most of these structures are designed using stainless steel, you can rest assured that it will be a sturdy platform for your cat, regardless of how CHONKY (scientific term) they may have become.

Even though we didn’t get to review their newest items, we have researched enough about them to know exactly how their consumers feel. Their newest Duro Series is constructed as a single-piece mold that is sold in many different styles. You can choose between gym, recreation and bedroom styles. However, they even have a product called the Kitty Kasas Siesta, which is a hanging chair.

Whichever home or facility you choose for your feline buddy, you will find that they are easy to stack and their solid, furniture-like colors are easy to fade into whatever decor you may have going on. Finally, each cube or outdoor structure is easy to clean and disinfect from time to time.

Pros

  • Each cube looks like a piece of abstract art with your cat peering through it
  • Made from very durable stainless steel
  • Scratch-pads will make sure that your kitty does not scratch other surfaces
  • Each structure is designed while keeping the needs of cats in mind
  • Easy to assemble or carry around
  • Wooden pegs are easy to detach without breaking into a sweat
  • Additional kitty clips make sure the structure doesn’t wobble out of place
  • Plenty of designs and fashionable colors to choose from

Cons

  • Some pet parents may consider it an unnecessary luxury

Who is Kitty Kasas For?

Kitty Kasas is a very useful product for cat owners because cats need structures and hideouts to keep themselves busy and out of your way throughout the day. Also, these structures are designed to interact with a cat’s basic instincts and to bring out their healthiest feline reflexes.

Are There Any Alternatives?

Pet parents are probably all too familiar with the concept of cat trees and cat houses since they gained popularity quite recently. While we’re convinced that Kitty Kasas is a truly unique creation, there are quite a few alternatives out there. Some of the more well-known products include Go Pet Club Cat Trees, Armarkat Cat Trees, OxGord Paws & Pals Cat Tree Houses and Songmic’s Cat Tree Towers.

Other Pitches from this Episode of Shark Tank

  • Sonnet James
  • Angel Shave Club
  • Makeup Junkie Bags

Our Final Thoughts

Nikki, her husband, Rusty, and thousands of customers are very proud of these brilliantly designed cat structures in their homes known as Kitty Kasas. If you hop onto the bandwagon as well, you will have contributed to their Shelter Redo Program and may have helped hundreds of thousands of other less-fortunate kitties in kitty facilities.

Of course, your feline pal is in for a real treat as well.
